CARD STALL- If you haven’t looked recently, please take a moment to visit the card stall situated next to the font, new items have just been added. For those of you who do not know, we have a range of reasonably priced greetings cards for all occasions, kindly donated to us, which are sold to help support the work of Penny & Juan Carlos in Peru. If you would like to know more about their work, you will be able to speak to them on 19th April.
ROOF REPAIRS – You will be pleased to know that phase 1 of the urgent roof repairs has recently taken place, now the Nave won’t leak anymore. So, a big thank you to everyone who has taken part in our recent fundraising effort; from cake sales, marmalade making, those donating and manning stalls at the Easter Fair and our regular quiz and Easyfundraising Fabric Fund supporters, who have made funding these repairs possible. However, your continued support is still required as the Lady Chapel roof is phase 2.
PLANNED GIVING - The aim is to encourage the congregation to give regular donations for the fundamental financing of the church, i.e. provision of a vicar and the cost of running weekly services, as these costs remain regardless of how often you attend. It is then hoped that you will be able to contribute the same amount each month to enable the PCC to plan/budget for it’s expenditure. The way it works is that each member of the congregation decides on an amount to contribute monthly. For those contributing by cash or cheque you get allocated a number and receive twelve numbered, monthly stamped, brown envelopes, so that your contributions remain anonymous. (The person who allocates the numbers does not count the contents of the envelopes. The people counting the contributions don’t know who has what number.) The Planned Giving scheme runs from August one year to July the next. Although you can join at any time during the year. If you find the envelope system inconvenient, it is possible for you to set up a standing order, use the “Sum-Up” machine or the QR codes in church and make payments directly to the church’s bank account.
GIFT AID - We would also encourage anyone who pays income tax to consider “Gift Aiding” their contributions. This enables the Church to reclaim an extra 25% of your contributions, at no extra cost to you. In fact, if you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can reclaim 15% of your contributions as well. To join the planned giving scheme, set up a standing order, or make a Gift Aid declaration, please see Simon Garson (Gift Aid Secretary) or Bob Avery (Churchwarden).
