Supporting The Community
Fairtrade
All Saints is proud to be a Fairtrade Church, we were among the first in our Diocese to declare ourselves as such.
We have pledged to serve Fairtrade beverages wherever we cater and as many other refreshments as possible. We seek to the best of our abilities to uphold & promote the 10 principles of Fairtrade as laid down by the World Fairtrade Foundation:
1. Create Opportunities for Economically Disadvantaged Producers
2. Transparency and Accountability
3. Fair Trading Practices
4. Payment of a Fair Price
5. Ensuring no Child Labour and Forced Labour
6. Commitment to Non-Discrimination, Gender Equality, Freedom of Association
7. Ensuring Good Working Conditions
8. Providing Capacity Building
9. Promoting Fair Trade
10. Respect for the Environment
The above list is a reduced version of the 10 Principles of Fair Trade. To see WFTO’s full list, please visit their website here: http://www.wfto.com/fair-trade/10-principles-fair-trade
To promote Fairtrade within our Church community, we have a Fairtrade stall in the church hall on the 3 rd Sunday of each month following the 10am Service where Fairtrade groceries & crafts/gifts may be purchased.
All are welcome to visit this stall, even if they do not choose to attend the service. A Fairtrade stall is also available at our twice-a-month Fairtrade Cafés , held on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in the Savage Room (to the rear of our hall) from 10.30am-12noon where we serve Fairtrade Teas & Coffees (or hot chocolate!) together with homemade cakes (always containing at least one Fairtrade ingredient!) at reasonable prices.
All are welcome to join us for a friendly cuppa & a chat, all profits go to our month’s Good Cause.

Gardens
The All Saints New Eltham church is set in beautiful gardens with lawns, mature trees, shrubs and flowers. The main lawned areas are in front of the Church, surrounding the War Memorial on the left and fronting the Memorial Garden on the right as you enter, an Ideal location for Wedding photos.

The Memorial Garden.
As you enter Bishop’s Close, there is a large herbaceous border to your right, filled with roses and flowering shrubs, which is known as the Memorial Garden. There you can see many plaques dedicated to the memory of loved ones.
“I was amazed and very moved how lovely and well cared for their patch is, with a lovely stone path leading around it. Their rose is beautifully pruned and even bears a rosebud. They are surrounded by friends”. Parishioner, January 2018.
Peace Garden.
Officially opened in 2023, the Peace Garden is situated outside the Lady Chapel. Created as a “space for peace and contemplation”, as part of our Mission Plan for 2019 – 2020, by a small dedicated force of volunteer gardeners, who on the first Saturday of every month meet to dig, weed, prune, lay and clear paths and make compost.
Further development is envisaged, so currently viewing the peace garden is by appointment only, contact Neal or Annette for access.
All the gardens and lawns are maintained by volunteers (see “Supporting the Church” “Gardeners and Mowers” for details of how you could help).
